Google Pixel 10 Adds AI-Detection Tech to Camera, Photos

Google has introduced a new feature in its Pixel 10 smartphones that integrates C2PA Content Credentials into the camera and Google Photos to help users verify the authenticity of images and detect AI-generated or edited content. Every JPEG photo captured by the Pixel 10 camera automatically includes these credentials, which provide verifiable proof of how the media was created, enhancing transparency and trust in generative AI. This system securely records the entire history of edits, whether AI or non-AI, and protects user anonymity while ensuring tamper resistance through multiple layers of cryptographic security, including storage in the Titan M2 security chip. Google's approach aims to distinguish between media with verifiable provenance and those without, moving beyond simplistic AI versus non-AI labels.
