A wave of infrastructure failures has caused significant disruptions in several U.S. cities and parts of the UK. Water main breaks led to flooding, water outages, and road buckling in Tucson, Malibu, Bellevue, Cohoes, Amsterdam, and Houston, forcing business closures and transit reroutes. In Bellevue, Washington, a major water main break shut down a busy intersection, while in Houston, a repaired main break caused dramatic street flooding. Cayce, South Carolina, saw the closure of Riverwalk Park after a sewage line break with no reopening timeline. In the UK, flooding partially blocked the M66 motorway, resulting in major traffic delays. Additionally, a cut gas line in Waxhaw, North Carolina, led to the closure of Providence Road as repairs were underway.
