Indianapolis Man Convicted in Family Mass Shooting

Raymond Ronald Lee Childs III was found guilty of a mass shooting in January 2021 that resulted in the deaths of six family members, including his parents and siblings, in Indianapolis. The conviction came after a retrial, following a mistrial earlier in the year due to a courtroom incident. In a separate case, David Hollowell was convicted of rape and burglary in a 20-year-old cold case involving a 13-year-old girl in Charlestown, Indiana, but was acquitted of attempted murder. Additionally, Brandon Herring was convicted of aggravated battery resulting in the death of his 4-month-old son, Jaxson Thompson, in Indianapolis. Herring admitted to shaking the child out of frustration, leading to fatal injuries. Both Herring and Childs are awaiting their sentencing hearings scheduled for November 2024 and January 2025, respectively.
