Wolves Near £24m Deal for Genk Striker Tolu Arokodare
Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian club Genk for a reported £24 million, pending a medical and finalizing a five-year contract. Arokodare, who was the joint-top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League last season with 21 goals, will bolster Wolves' attack alongside Jørgen Strand Larsen, who the club is determined to keep despite multiple bids from Newcastle United. Wolves manager Vítor Pereira sees Arokodare as a partner rather than a replacement for Larsen amid uncertainty over Larsen's future, as the striker has expressed a desire to leave but the club remains firm on retaining him. The arrival of Arokodare is expected to force the departure of either Sasa Kalajdzic or Hwang Hee-chan due to Premier League homegrown player rules. Additionally, Wolves are pursuing former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill on a free transfer to strengthen their midfield. These moves come as Wolves struggle at the bottom of the Premier League, having lost their first three matches of the season, highlighting the urgent need for reinforcements in attack and midfield.
