Wyoming Cowboys Win Season Opener Over Northern State 99-75
The Wyoming Cowboys opened their 2025-26 basketball season with a dominant 99-75 victory over Northern State, shooting 55 percent from the field and scoring 62 points in the paint. Freshman guard Nasir "Naz" Meyer led Wyoming with 19 points and six rebounds, marking the most points by a Cowboy freshman in a season opener since 2020. Five Wyoming players scored in double figures, including Khaden Bennett (14 points), Adam Harakow (12 points), Damarion Dennis (11 points), and Matija Belic (10 points), while Abou Magassa led the team with eight rebounds. Coach Sundance Wicks emphasized urgency and maturity for his young team, noting the importance of leadership from veteran players. Wyoming controlled the game with a rebounding advantage of 47-29, 17 offensive boards, 14 assists, and 48 bench points. Northern State, led by Marshawn Smith and James Glenn, managed 12 three-pointers but was outpaced especially in the second half, as Wyoming pulled away to secure the win.
