Mauro Schmid of the Jayco AlUla cycling team clinched victory at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, marking the team's first win in this event since its inception in 2015. The Swiss champion made his decisive move with about 7 kilometers remaining, maintaining a narrow lead over the chasing pack to finish three seconds ahead of New Zealander Aaron Gate. Schmid credited his teammate Chris Harper for laying the groundwork that allowed him to secure the win, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in the race's challenging conditions. The event, held in extreme heat with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, saw an early solo break by Italian rider Andrea Raccagni Novieri, who was caught on the climbs.
