Canada Dental Care Plan Expands Coverage

The Canada Dental Care Plan has successfully provided care to one million Canadians in its first six months, covering seniors, people with disabilities, and children from families earning less than $90,000. Starting November 1, the program will expand to include more complex dental procedures such as crowns and partial dentures, with pre-authorization now available. Health Minister Mark Holland highlighted that 89% of oral health providers are participating, indicating broad support for the initiative. The government plans to further expand eligibility in early 2025 to include more Canadians. Holland emphasized the importance of preventative care, citing the long-term cost savings associated with early treatment. The program currently has 2.7 million registered participants and aims to be inclusive of all Canadians by 2025.
