India Schedules Vyommitra's Solo Space Mission

India is set to launch its female robot astronaut, Vyommitra, into space in the third quarter of 2024, preceding the Gaganyaan mission, India's first manned space flight which is not expected until 2025. Vyommitra is designed with advanced capabilities to simulate human functions in space, monitor module parameters, issue alerts, and execute life-support operations. This aligns with India's commitment to advancing space technology and exploration. The Gaganyaan mission aims to demonstrate human capabilities in space by launching a crew into a low-Earth orbit of 400 km and returning them safely to Earth. This follows the successful test vehicle flight TV D1 on October 21, 2023, marking essential progress in preparation for manned space missions.
