OpenAI, Microsoft, Oracle Forge $300B Multi-Cloud AI Partnership

OpenAI is undergoing a significant transition from a nonprofit entity to a public benefit corporation (PBC), allowing it to balance profit-making with its social mission while maintaining nonprofit control. This move is supported by a renewed partnership with Microsoft, its largest investor, under a non-binding memorandum of understanding that enables OpenAI to expand its AI tools and infrastructure access beyond Microsoft’s Azure platform. The restructuring will give the nonprofit arm an equity stake exceeding $100 billion in the PBC, positioning it as one of the most well-resourced philanthropic organizations globally.
