Mr. Bungle's Theo Lengyel Convicted of Murder

Theobald 'Theo' Lengyel, a founding member of the experimental rock band Mr. Bungle, was convicted of first-degree murder for the killing of his girlfriend, Alice Herrmann, following a six-week trial. The jury deliberated for only one day before reaching the verdict, aided significantly by a chilling audio recording from Herrmann's phone that captured her pleading for her life as Lengyel allegedly strangled her during a heated argument on December 4, 2023. Herrmann, 61, was reported missing after failing to attend a family gathering, and her remains were discovered in Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley. Prosecutors revealed that Lengyel had been a person of interest due to his lack of cooperation during the investigation. He now faces a life sentence when he is sentenced next month. Lengyel had been a member of Mr. Bungle from its inception in 1985 until his departure in 1996 due to creative differences.
