Hong Kong Marks Citywide First Birthday Celebrations for Panda Twins Jia Jia, De De
Hong Kong is celebrating the first birthday of its beloved panda twins, Jia Jia and De De, born at Ocean Park in August 2024, with a citywide series of events and exclusive collectibles designed to boost tourism and cultural engagement. The Hong Kong Tourism Board and Ocean Park have collaborated with artist Kasing Lung, creator of Labubu, to launch a limited-edition bamboo-green Labubu x Panda Twins vinyl toy, featuring Labubu holding the panda twins and packaged with a handcrafted birthday card. Visitors can pre-register for a lucky draw in August to win one of around 300 gift boxes containing this special collectible, with additional boxes available during the birthday celebrations from August 15 to 17. Ocean Park will serve as the focal point of festivities, offering themed attractions such as the Panda Friends Summer Splash, Gala of Lights with projections and dancing fountains, and exclusive merchandise including plush toys and ticket packages. Beyond the park, the celebrations extend citywide with panda-themed decorations in public spaces, including MTR stations and road signs, creating immersive photo opportunities and enhancing visitor engagement. This multi-faceted campaign combines wildlife conservation, cultural storytelling, and interactive tourism, positioning Hong Kong as a vibrant August destination for both domestic and international travelers.
