Alabama DB Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. Arrested, Suspended

University of Alabama sophomore defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested Saturday during the Crimson Tide’s bye week and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of attempting to elude and speeding, according to jail records. He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and released within about an hour on a $1,500 bond. The University of Alabama Police Department is leading the investigation and the athletics department said it is gathering more details. Head coach Kalen DeBoer has indefinitely suspended Kirkpatrick Jr. pending the outcome of the investigation, DeBoer said at a press conference. A 20-year-old legacy and son of former Alabama All-American and NFL cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., Kirkpatrick Jr. has appeared in all eight games this season—primarily on special teams and as a reserve safety—recording nine tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
