Ukraine Plans One-Year Moratorium on Business Inspections
The Ukrainian government, under the coordination of the National Security and Defense Council and with the support of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is preparing a one-year moratorium on business inspections aimed at providing more freedom to domestic economic forces. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that this moratorium will limit tax and customs inspections to high-risk sectors only, while law-abiding businesses will receive protection. An audit of criminal cases against businesses has also begun, with a priority to close unfounded cases that hinder entrepreneurship; new cases will require authorization from the Prosecutor General or heads at regional or district levels. The government is ready to pursue legislative changes to better protect businesses, reform oversight, and ensure the fair use of confiscated Russian assets. Additionally, a grant program to support the defense industry by promoting the production of ammunition and explosives will launch soon, alongside an experimental 'Design and Build' project to accelerate the construction and restoration of critical infrastructure such as housing, hospitals, and schools. These measures reflect a broader government priority to support entrepreneurs, enhance domestic production, and optimize state apparatus while continuing efforts to de-shadow the economy and ensure fair conditions for legitimate businesses.
