Tory Lanez continues to fight his 2022 conviction and 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, maintaining his innocence through his legal team. At a recent appeals hearing, his attorneys argued that the trial was unfair, citing misinterpretation of DNA evidence which they claim showed only a marginal chance that Lanez's DNA was on the firearm. They also contended that his constitutional right to confront key witnesses was violated, particularly regarding the absence of testimony from Megan's former bodyguard, Justin Edison, despite prosecutors' promises. Prosecutors countered that the evidence against Lanez was strong and that retesting DNA would not alter the outcome, noting that expert testimony at trial found no conclusive DNA linking Lanez to the gun. The appeals court recently denied two petitions from Lanez's team alleging due process violations and withheld evidence, including the firearm and bullet fragments.
