Spike Lee and Denzel Washington reunite in the crime thriller Highest 2 Lowest, a modern reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low, set in New York City's music industry. Washington stars as David King, a powerful music mogul whose empire is thrown into turmoil when a kidnapping goes wrong, forcing him into a high-stakes moral and psychological battle. The film also features rapper A$AP Rocky, who delivers a breakthrough performance as King's son, alongside Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, and others. Produced by Apple, A24, Escape Artists, and Mandalay Pictures, the movie debuted out of competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and will release in theaters on August 15, 2025, followed by streaming on Apple TV+ from September 5.
