Temple University Suspends Pro-Palestinian Group

Temple University has suspended the student organization Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) following a protest during a career fair that resulted in four arrests. The protest aimed to highlight vendors accused of having ties to violence in Gaza, but led to claims of police brutality, including allegations that officers groped a protester and removed another's hijab. Temple police assert that their actions were justified, stating the protestors were noncompliant and disruptive. The suspension prohibits SJP from conducting any campus activities and is part of a broader trend of disciplinary actions against pro-Palestinian groups on campus. The Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling for investigations into the police's actions during the protest. This incident follows a similar suspension of a pro-Palestinian group at Rutgers University earlier this year.
