Public Votes to Name We Energies Falcon Chicks After Conservation Legends

Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies are inviting the public to help name this year's peregrine falcon chicks, honoring more than 30 years of conservation efforts that have resulted in over 450 falcons hatching at their power plants. The chosen theme, 'Founding Feathers,' pays tribute to 20 influential falcons from the program’s history, including Atlanta, Leopold, Flaps, and others who played significant roles in repopulating the species. Voting is open online until May 8, and participants can select up to five names, with the most popular ones assigned to the new chicks as they hatch this spring. The public can vote multiple times and is encouraged to learn more about the falcons’ legacy as well as watch live nest cams. This initiative seeks to connect the community with ongoing conservation efforts and celebrate the program’s successes. The effort highlights both the past achievements and future hopes for peregrine falcons in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.
