Lionsgate Acquires The Weeknd's Film Rights

Lionsgate has acquired worldwide theatrical distribution rights to 'Hurry Up Tomorrow,' marking the feature debut of Grammy-winning artist The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye). Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the psychological thriller also stars Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan and serves as an extension of The Weeknd's upcoming sixth studio album of the same title. The film's score will be composed by The Weeknd and Daniel Lopatin. Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, praised The Weeknd as a visionary, noting that the film will expand his artistic universe to the big screen. 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' is described as the culmination of a trilogy of albums, following 'After Hours' and 'Dawn FM'. Production includes a team of industry professionals with a strong background in visual storytelling, further enhancing the film's anticipated impact.
