MAMI Festival Opens with 'All We Imagine as Light'

The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 will open with Payal Kapadia’s Cannes Grand Prix winner 'All We Imagine as Light' and close with Sean Baker’s 'Anora'. This year's festival, running from October 19-24, is a smaller edition due to the absence of a title sponsor but still features over 110 films from 45 countries. 'All We Imagine as Light,' a film about two Kerala nurses in Mumbai, has created buzz with its trailer ahead of its nationwide release in November. The film, an India-France co-production, has already been released in Kerala and France. Kapadia made history as the first Indian filmmaker to win the Grand Prix at Cannes, and the film will be distributed in India by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Despite financial challenges, the film is celebrated for its emotional depth and exploration of identity, resonating with audiences worldwide.
