Ledecky, Douglass Lead U.S. at World Aquatics
At the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, Katie Ledecky won her seventh consecutive world title in the women's 800m freestyle, setting a new championship record of 8:05.62. Australia's Lani Pallister took silver with a lifetime-best 8:05.98, while Canada's Summer McIntosh earned bronze after leading most of the race. Ledecky's win marked the most world titles by any swimmer in a single event and brought her closer to Michael Phelps's career record. Kate Douglass also set new American and championship records in the 200m breaststroke, winning gold in 2:18.50 as the second-fastest performer ever. Gretchen Walsh captured gold in the 50m butterfly, and American relay teams set new records. These results illustrate the ongoing dominance of U.S. swimmers while highlighting emerging talent from Canada and Australia.
