Spectrum Worker Hit by DUI Driver Recovering

A Spectrum employee was critically injured after being struck by an SUV while working on the side of the road at the intersection of Green Level Church Road and Kitt Creek Road in Cary, North Carolina, around 10:20 p.m. Saturday night. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Juanita Ramirez of Durham, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while impaired, felony serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed, and failure to maintain lane control. Court documents indicate Ramirez had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 during a breath test. The injured worker was transported to a local hospital and is currently recovering. Ramirez is being held at the Wake County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. Cary police are continuing to investigate the incident.
