Three Killed Including Infant in Utah Festival Shooting

A mass shooting occurred during the final night of WestFest, an annual cultural festival in West Valley City, Utah, resulting in three deaths, including an 8-month-old infant and a 41-year-old woman bystander, as well as an 18-year-old man involved in a dispute. The shooting erupted after officers at the event witnessed a verbal altercation between two groups and approached to intervene, when a 16-year-old male suspect opened fire on the other group. Police returned fire but did not hit the suspect, who was quickly taken into custody. In total, five people were shot, including two teenagers who suffered non-fatal arm injuries, and a pregnant woman who was hurt trying to escape. The incident caused panic among families and festivalgoers, with witnesses describing chaotic scenes as people fled the area. Authorities are conducting witness interviews and have stated no other suspects are being sought at this time.
