Samsung Plans Android XR Headset Launch South Korea October

Samsung is set to enter the extended reality (XR) market with its first XR headset, known as Project Moohan or Project Infinite, launching at a Galaxy Unpacked event on September 29, 2025, and going on sale in South Korea on October 13, with a global rollout to follow. Priced between $1,800 and $2,800, the headset offers a more affordable alternative to Apple's $3,500 Vision Pro, though it remains around four times more expensive than Meta's Quest 3. The device features high-end specifications including Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, two micro OLED displays with a 90Hz refresh rate, 12 cameras for advanced tracking and passthrough, and runs on Google's Android XR platform, supported by an external battery pack to keep it lightweight. Samsung aims to ship approximately 100,000 units by the end of 2025, targeting a limited initial rollout partly due to the cost and supply constraints of its high-resolution displays, which reportedly utilize Sony's latest micro-OLED technology. This launch marks a significant step for Samsung in spatial computing, positioning it as a strong competitor to Apple in the emerging XR market.
