Three Heli-Skiers Killed, One Critical in BC Avalanche
Three men were killed in an avalanche on March 24, 2025, in southeastern British Columbia, while a fourth man was critically injured. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. as two groups of skiers were waiting in a staging area below the tree line of Clute Creek watershed after skiing. A transport helicopter pilot sounded the alarm upon seeing the avalanche, allowing one group to escape, but the other group of four was swept away. The deceased include a 44-year-old man from Whistler, a 45-year-old man from Idaho, and their 53-year-old guide from Kaslo. The fourth victim, a 40-year-old man from Nelson, was found alive but seriously injured. The BC Coroners Service is investigating the incident with the assistance of the RCMP.
