BBC Scotland Launches News at Seven Show

BBC Scotland is set to launch a new weeknight news program, Reporting Scotland: News at Seven, starting January 6, 2025. Amy Irons and Laura Maciver will co-anchor the 30-minute show, offering a conversational approach to news and analysis, complementing the existing Reporting Scotland at 6:30 pm on BBC One. This initiative follows the cancellation of several prior programs, including The Nine, which suffered from low viewer numbers. Additionally, a current affairs podcast series titled Scotcast, hosted by Martin Geissler, will premiere on January 13. Both projects aim to enhance BBC Scotland's news output and engage audiences more effectively. The changes reflect a strategic shift in response to evolving viewer habits and preferences.
