Lotus Unveils Theory 1 Electric Supercar Concept

Lotus has unveiled its new electric sports car concept, the Theory 1, which will be showcased on September 16, 2024. While the Theory 1 is not a direct revival of the iconic Esprit, it aims to embody the spirit of Lotus's lightweight design philosophy, featuring a balanced 987 horsepower and a focus on simplicity over maximalism. This concept hints at future models, including a production version expected in 2027, codenamed Type 135, designed to rival the upcoming electric Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman. Lotus has committed to an electric future, transitioning away from petrol engines, with the Emira being the last gas-powered model. The Theory 1 is expected to utilize the new LEVA platform and offer a range of power options, making it a potential successor to the Elise and Evora. As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification, Lotus aims to maintain its legacy with competitive electric offerings.
