Glenn Hegar, currently serving his third term as Texas Comptroller, has been named the sole finalist for the position of Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System, succeeding John Sharp. Hegar, a Texas A&M alumnus, has been the state's chief financial officer since 2014 and previously served in the Texas House and Senate. State law mandates a 21-day waiting period before Hegar's appointment can be finalized, after which he is expected to assume the role on July 1.
