Tempest Raises $3.2 Million for Developer Platform

Tempest, a startup founded by former Fleetsmith team members, has launched with $3.2 million in funding to address the challenges of internal developer platforms that typically consume significant engineering resources. The platform promises deployment within hours, contrasting the conventional months-long setup, enabling developers to focus on delivering customer value rather than infrastructure tasks. Led by Abstract Ventures, the funding round also saw contributions from Box Group and Background Capital, alongside industry figures like Max Mullen and Jason Chan. Tempest's dual approach combines an internal developer portal with a robust developer experience platform to facilitate self-serve workflows and automate processes. Ken Kouot, co-founder and CEO, emphasized that improving developer experience is critical to avoiding business risks associated with delayed revenue and missed opportunities. The platform aims to provide a comprehensive solution to streamline software delivery, making it accessible for teams of all sizes, including a free tier for small teams.
