Oklahoma State Wins 12th NCAA Men’s Golf Title Beating Virginia 4-1

Oklahoma State won its 12th NCAA men's golf championship and first in eight years by defeating Virginia 4-1 at La Costa. Eric Lee, a sophomore for Oklahoma State, sealed the victory with a 25-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole and a conceded birdie on the 18th after his opponent missed a long birdie attempt. Earlier, Lee had clinched the semifinal win against Mississippi with a clutch 6-foot par putt on the 19th hole, helping the Cowboys reach the final after also beating Oklahoma in the quarterfinals. Virginia, aiming for its first national title, reached the final by upsetting defending champion Auburn and 2023 champion Florida, with standout performances from Ben James, who also won his final match but was the lone winner for Virginia in the championship round. The final also featured solid contributions from Swedish freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson, Gaven Lane, and Ethan Fang for Oklahoma State. Virginia's historic run to the final was marked by resilient, back-and-forth matches, but Oklahoma State's experience and clutch putting secured their national championship triumph.
