Dacia Unveils Hipster Ultra-Compact Electric Car Concept Targeting Sub-€20,000 Price
Dacia has unveiled the Hipster Concept, an ultra-compact, affordable electric vehicle designed primarily for urban mobility. At just three meters long and weighing under 800 kilograms, the Hipster offers seating for four adults, a flexible boot capacity ranging from 70 to 500 liters, and minimalistic features such as fabric door straps and sliding windows to reduce costs and weight. The car lacks traditional infotainment systems, using the owner's smartphone instead, and prioritizes simplicity and functionality over luxury. With a proposed price target around €15,000 to under €20,000, the Hipster aims to be one of the most accessible new EVs in Europe, contingent on forthcoming EU regulations that might establish a new category for ultra-compact vehicles. Dacia's CEO Katrin Adt emphasized readiness to mass-produce the vehicle if regulatory and industrial conditions align, highlighting the brand's vision for affordable, everyday electric mobility. The Hipster's design and features reflect a commitment to sustainability and cost-effectiveness, including a significantly reduced carbon footprint and a stripped-back, durable exterior.
