Four Melbourne Teens Arrested After High-Speed CBD Chase Hits Pedestrian

Four teenage boys, aged between 15 and 17, were arrested after a police pursuit that began in Melbourne's eastern suburbs and ended in the CBD when they abandoned a stolen BMW in Bourke Street Mall. The incident started around 12:30 pm on Monday when police noticed the car being driven erratically on the Eastern Freeway in Doncaster. During the chase, a female pedestrian was struck on Exhibition Street and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The teenagers fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle and were apprehended a short time later outside a shopping center on Lonsdale Street. Police confirmed the BMW had been stolen from the Boroondara area the previous day. The pursuit caused temporary disruptions to tram services on routes 86 and 96 in the CBD, but authorities assured there was no ongoing threat to the public.
