IMF Reviews Bangladesh Progress, Plans Mozambique Mission for Economic Reforms

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is actively engaging with Mozambique to support economic reforms and financial stability. Mozambican President Daniel Chapo requested IMF assistance in reforms related to public debt management, revenue collection, governance, and anti-corruption efforts to improve the country's macroeconomic situation. The IMF, represented by Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, has committed to sending a mission in November to assess Mozambique's new reform program and provide technical support for its implementation. This mission will evaluate Mozambique's ongoing efforts following the end of a previous IMF program earlier this year. Additionally, Mozambique's President highlighted the importance of IMF partnership to address challenges and promote sustainable development, coinciding with broader cooperation efforts with the US on security and governance. These developments come amid the IMF's continued global role in monitoring and supporting economic programs, including a concurrent mission to Bangladesh to review loan conditions.
