Man Arrested for Attempted Taxi Hijacking

A man was arrested early Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles after allegedly attempting to hijack a self-driving Waymo taxi around 1 a.m. The incident occurred near the intersection of South Hill Street and Fifth Street, where police approached the man behind a riot shield after he refused to exit the vehicle. Video footage showed the man inside the taxi, and an officer later opened the door to pull him out and make the arrest.
