Microsoft Integrates Windows 11 with Meta Quest 3

Microsoft has announced that starting in December, the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets will support streaming Windows 11 directly, as part of a public preview, enabling users to create a virtual workstation with multiple monitors. This integration allows for seamless access to local PCs or cloud-based Windows 365 services and aims to transform the headsets into productivity tools beyond their current gaming and entertainment uses. The partnership between Microsoft and Meta was initially teased by Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, promising streamlined functionality for Quest users. The feature offers a competitive edge against Apple's Vision Pro by allowing users to interact with Windows in mixed reality. Previously, third-party apps like Virtual Desktop were required for such VR experiences, but this integration simplifies the process and may expand to include Volumetric Apps for 3D interactions. This move marks Microsoft's continued venture into VR despite its previous withdrawal from HoloLens development.
