Jorrell Shoals, 37, was arrested in the South Bronx for drinking alcohol in public, only for police to discover he was wanted for the murder of 54-year-old Ramon Cruz. Cruz was fatally attacked on June 23, suffering severe injuries after being beaten, and died on July 17, leading to a homicide ruling. Shoals faces charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter as he allegedly struck Cruz multiple times while he was on the ground. The NYPD had previously released Shoals' information in an effort to locate him. Shoals was ordered to be held without bail at his arraignment in Bronx Criminal Supreme Court. His father expressed concern for his son's mental health but acknowledged he had never been diagnosed or treated.
