USL to Implement Promotion-Relegation System

The United Soccer League (USL) has voted to implement a promotion and relegation system, marking the first time this European-style model will be used in the United States. This decision comes alongside the launch of a new Division One league in 2028, positioning the USL to compete directly with Major League Soccer (MLS), which remains a closed league with no promotion or relegation.
