The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has admitted that evidence presented in Lucy Letby's initial trial, specifically door swipe data showing staff movements in the neonatal unit, was incorrect. Letby, convicted last year of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others at the Countess of Chester Hospital, was given 14 whole-life sentences. During a retrial concerning the attempted murder of Baby K, it was revealed that the data had been 'mislabelled' but was corrected in time for the retrial. MP David Davis has requested clarification on the timing errors and their impact on the prosecution’s case. The Royal Statistical Society has also raised concerns about the statistical evidence used in the trial. Letby continues to serve her whole-life sentence without the possibility of release.
