Warsaw's Museum of Modern Art Opens Permanent Home

The newly opened Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw has attracted significant attention, welcoming 50,000 visitors in its first weekend alone. Located near the iconic Palace of Culture and Science, the museum represents a shift for Poland's art scene, transitioning from a nomadic institution to a permanent home after nearly two decades. Designed by New York's Thomas Phifer and Partners, the minimalist building spans 20,000 square meters and includes extensive gallery spaces, a cinema, and educational facilities. The opening features large-scale works by women artists, aiming to address historical neglect in the art world. Despite some criticism regarding its architectural design, the museum's bright and welcoming interior is seen as a symbol of Poland's cultural revival. The museum's collection will predominantly showcase Polish artists, set to officially open on February 21, 2025.
