Second Suspect Charged in Reporter Adan Manzano Death

Rickey White, initially facing robbery and fraud charges, has now been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Kansas City sports reporter Adan Manzano, who was found dead in his Kenner, Louisiana hotel room while on assignment for Super Bowl LIX. Authorities allege White and Danette Colbert, the first suspect charged with murder, collaborated in a scheme to drug and rob men in nightlife areas, coordinating through text messages and discussing the use of 'knockout' drugs. Surveillance footage captured Colbert with Manzano prior to his death, leaving his hotel room alone, and using his credit cards, while White allegedly provided transportation and assisted in withdrawing funds from victims’ accounts. An autopsy revealed Manzano died from the combined effects of Xanax and alcohol, with positional asphyxia, and that his blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit. Investigators believe Colbert and White communicated frequently on the day of Manzano’s death and had previously committed similar crimes together. Both suspects remain in custody as authorities continue their investigation to ensure all responsible parties are prosecuted.
