Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. and his wife, La'Quetta Small, have been indicted on charges of child endangerment, assault, and terroristic threats for allegedly abusing their teenage daughter. The indictment details incidents occurring between December 2023 and January 2024, including the mayor hitting his daughter with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, and both parents physically and emotionally abusing her. La'Quetta Small, who serves as the city's superintendent of schools, allegedly punched her daughter and struck her with a belt. The abuse came to light after the daughter confided in a school employee and provided photographic evidence of her injuries. The couple's lawyer claims the charges are a private family matter and unrelated to the mayor's public office. Additionally, the principal of Atlantic City High School has been indicted for failing to report the abuse.
