Mini Tornado Causes Damage in Coventry

A mini tornado struck the Finham area of Coventry on Tuesday evening, causing significant damage to homes and uprooting trees. Residents described the terrifying experience, likening the sound to 'a bomb going off' or 'a train coming' as winds reached alarming speeds. A massive tree, approximately 100ft tall, fell into several gardens on Beanfield Avenue, while smaller trees were snapped in half, and roof tiles were dislodged. Homeowner Kay Cooke reported that the chaotic weather lasted just five to ten minutes but resulted in thousands of pounds in damage, with her expecting around £300 in out-of-pocket expenses despite having insurance. Other residents also reported severe destruction, including collapsed scaffolding and flying debris that made it difficult to exit their homes immediately after the event. The unpredictable storm left the community shaken, with many still assessing the aftermath.
