Dubai Unveils Ambitious Walkway Project

Dubai is set to undergo a significant transformation with the approval of the Dubai Walk Master Plan, which aims to develop a 6,500 km network of pedestrian walkways by 2040. This ambitious project includes the construction of 3,300 km of new paths and the rehabilitation of 2,300 km of existing walkways, alongside 110 pedestrian bridges and underpasses to enhance connectivity. A key feature of the plan is 'The Future Loop', an elevated, air-conditioned walkway connecting major landmarks like the Museum of the Future and Dubai World Trade Centre, designed to promote year-round walking even in extreme heat. The initiative is expected to boost pedestrian mobility from 13% to 25% by 2040 and aligns with Dubai's Quality of Life Strategy 2033, emphasizing accessibility and active lifestyles. This project not only reflects a commitment to creating a more walkable city but also positions Dubai as a leading example of urban sustainability and health-focused infrastructure.
