Former Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Charged With Multiple Rape Counts in UK

Thomas Partey, former Arsenal midfielder, has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police, with offences allegedly occurring between 2021 and 2022 involving three women. Partey denies all charges and has cooperated fully with authorities throughout the three-year investigation, welcoming the chance to clear his name. The charges surfaced just days after his Arsenal contract expired, ending his tenure with the club which began in 2020 following a high-profile transfer from Atletico Madrid. The police investigation began in February 2022 after receiving the first report of rape, and Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy emphasized that supporting the women who came forward remains a priority. Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5. Arsenal, the Football Association, and the Premier League have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.
