Arrests in U.S. and Leeds Stabbings

Law enforcement in the U.S. and U.K. have recently arrested or charged multiple people in separate deadly stabbings and shootings. In Akron, Ohio, 24-year-old Deshawn Stafford was arrested by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in connection with the Oct. 5 Highland Square shooting that killed 25-year-old Timothy Hutchinson. In Seacroft, Leeds, 28-year-old Jack Stretton was charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon after 19-year-old Harry Abbott died from a stabbing on Oct. 8. In California, Modesto resident Cesar Romero-Bermudez was arrested on attempted murder accusations after a man was critically stabbed Oct. 18 in Turlock; investigators say the assault may be linked to a domestic dispute. Authorities charged Mario Jackson with multiple counts in an Anchorage double homicide captured on video, and Washington, D.C., police arrested Leon Bryant on first-degree murder charges in the July fatal stabbing of Jonathan Simmons-Miller.
