Hurricane Debby, now a tropical depression, caused widespread power outages across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, with Governor Kathy Hochul declaring a State of Emergency. The storm resulted in over 42,000 customers without electricity in the Hudson Valley and Capital Region, with Westchester County particularly hard hit, where more than 5,000 Con Edison customers lost power. Strong winds, reaching up to 50 miles per hour, downed trees and power lines, leading to significant disruptions, especially in areas like Ossining and White Plains. Utility crews are working to restore power, but some areas may remain without service until Sunday evening due to extensive damage. As the storm conditions begin to subside, authorities are advising residents to stay off the roads and remain vigilant. A Tornado Watch and Wind Advisory were also in effect during the storm.
