Bears Honor McCaskey, McMichael With Uniform Tributes

The Chicago Bears will honor late owner Virginia Halas McCaskey and Hall of Fame defensive tackle Steve McMichael during the 2025 NFL season. Players will wear a football-shaped patch with McCaskey's initials, 'VMH,' on their jerseys, echoing a similar tribute made for her father, George Halas, in 1983. The team will forgo all alternate and throwback uniforms this season, maintaining their navy and white home and away sets to reflect McCaskey's preference for tradition. Steve McMichael, who died in April after battling ALS, will be remembered with a No. 76 decal on each helmet and a matching logo on the Soldier Field turf during home games, which also marks the 40th anniversary of the Bears’ Super Bowl XX team. These tributes will debut at the preseason opener and continue throughout the season. The gestures are intended to respectfully celebrate the legacies of both McCaskey and McMichael.
