Real Women Have Curves Musical Opens on Broadway

The musical 'Real Women Have Curves' will make its Broadway debut at the James Earl Jones Theatre, beginning previews on April 1, 2025, and officially opening on April 27. Directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, the show is based on the original play by Josefina López and the 2002 film starring America Ferrera. It features music and lyrics by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez, with a book by Lisa Loomer and Nell Benjamin. The story, set in 1987 Los Angeles, follows 18-year-old Ana as she grapples with her dreams of pursuing a life in New York City against her family's expectations to work in their garment factory. Producers Barry and Fran Weissler, along with Jack Noseworthy, are behind the project, which had its world premiere at the American Repertory Theater in 2023.
