Van Crash Causes Fire in Bel Air Home
A van crashed into a Bel Air, MD home on Wednesday night, striking the gas meter and igniting a fire that caused significant damage and resulted in the deaths of two dogs. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. at 1702 Woodhome Drive, and while the homeowner was not present, the dogs were inside when the fire broke out. The driver fled the scene but was later identified and turned himself in, facing multiple traffic citations and potential criminal charges. Firefighters from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company took approximately 30 minutes to control the blaze, which led to the evacuation of surrounding homes due to a gas leak. The estimated damage to the home is around $500,000, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Town Group, owner of the van, has declined to comment on the incident.
