A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Tesla on Interstate 5 near San Elijo State Beach in Encinitas, California. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., shutting down part of the southbound freeway. The pedestrian, described as homeless, died at the scene, and the driver cooperated with authorities. Separately, John Marrone, 68, was charged with causing death while driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene after hitting and killing Gonzalo Jimenez-Hernandez, 48, in Toms River, New Jersey. Marrone was found near his abandoned vehicle and taken for a court-ordered blood draw, with results pending. Marrone is currently held in Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
