Tesla's New Cybertruck Faces Market Challenges

Tesla's latest offering, the single-motor rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck, dubbed the Long Range model, has sparked disappointment among consumers due to its reduced features and high price tag. Priced at $71,985, it offers a range of 350 miles, 25 miles more than the dual-motor version, yet it lacks several features such as air suspension and power outlets, which have been replaced by an optional adapter. Despite the price reduction by $10,000 compared to the dual-motor version, the vehicle's value for money is questioned, especially since it only includes basic features like textile seats and reduced towing capacity. Sales of the Cybertruck are struggling, with only 6,406 units delivered in the first quarter of 2025, indicating a less-than-anticipated market performance. Used Cybertruck prices have also fallen, offering less appeal compared to new models with federal tax credits. The launch of the Long Range model is seen as Tesla's attempt to boost interest but has yet to significantly impact sales forecasts.
